Now that I'm flailing around trying to get used to here, I'm being asked for invite codes and I don't have a clue how to get 'em. Can anyone clue me in?
Right now, they're handing out invite codes slowly. Like a few days ago, anyone with a DW account who was a member of dw_news got one, because they needed to bump up traffic on the servers.
My understanding, which may or may not be correct, is this: 1) right now, a person's best chance at an invite code is to log in with OpenID and validate their email. They're sending out a handful of invite codes to validated OpenID users every day.
2) When the site goes into open beta on April 30 (or shortly after that happens) invite codes will start being a lot easier to come by.
There's also a comm that I can't remember the name of right now... something about codesharing? That's for people who have invite codes and no one to give it to. If you poke around the news posts or look through synecdochic's journal, I'm pretty sure it's been mentioned there.
