Crafter Opportunity

I've written before about the Prayer Shawl Ministry. It's rather late notice, but while wandering around their site I discovered that they have been asked to write a book for Taunton Press. They are collecting stories of prayer shawls given until January 16 and calling for knitted shawl patterns until February 6.
If you have a favorite, unique pattern with spiritual significance, here's a good opportunity to share it. They're calling mostly for knits, although crochet and sewing aren't ruled out. Also, although the site is Christian, it is heavily new age in its use of color and symbolism, and the openness for "Commitment Ceremony" leads me to believe that it is very liberally minded.
Categories of reasons-for-a-shawl listed include:
Basic (for comfort and prayer)
Personal (for self)
Man’s
Bridal
Wedding
Pregnancy/Nursing
Child/baby
Christening/Baptismal
First Communion
Confirmation
Ordination/Final Vows
Commitment Ceremony
Friendship
Life Transitions (graduation, retirement, moving, entering nursing home, etc.)
Rites of Passage (first menses, menopause, etc.)
Special Milestone Celebrations (birthday, anniversary, etc.)
Simplicity (for those w/special needs i.e. wheelchair or bed bound, etc.)
In other news, you have to adore Ordination Stole directions that start with First, measure your priest.
BTW, fair warning, I'm probably going to be a bit post-happy for a little while. We're between deadlines and I've caught up on all of my pre-Christmas duties. Which means I'm coming online to keep myself busy...
