The Mice Strike Back

All along, I've wondered why the mice weren't in the kitchen. Most obvious place for a mouse, yes? Well, a couple nights ago, Kaylee was abnormally fascinated with the oven. More accurately, the space under the oven, but since the linoleum's curling a bit, we couldn't see under there and so decided that ignorance was indeed bliss. The live trap was set rather unconvincingly (why run through the tunnel when there's a cat on the other side?)
The mouse must have thought much the same, because there were no marks of mouse (or ex-mouse) on the kitchen floor.
However, when I opened the drawer for a new tea towel, one of the oven mitts had been chewed and there were mouse droppings everywhere. The drawer above also had its depredations since we have - no, let me be accurate, had one of those soft hair basting brushes.
So my to-do list for this long weekend, which had originally been wittled down to two duties (teach M to knit and actually put the London/Cardiff stuff in the suitcase) has been enlarged to rather a lot of laundry and cleaning!
