I just noticed that the back of my pack of M&Ms has "total carbs" printed with the rest of the information.

Isn't it a safe assumption that if you're eating M&Ms you're not very concerned with diet issues?

It's the whole Atkins thing. It sells the idea you can still eat rich foods, etc, as long as you don't consume many carbs. I know a lot of people who try the Atkins diet and they eat the "low carb" candy like crazy. Then wonder why they aren't losing weight that fast.

Um, you have to put that. It's law. That little nutrition box has to be on anything sold as a food item.

The nutrition box, yes, but I don't remember carbs being required - fat, cholesterol, sodium, calories yes, but not carbs.

OTOH, dang if it isn't also on the Ho-Hos. (Why, yes, I am relying on the vending machine to keep me from falling asleep today...)

Yeah, carbs are part of the legislated mandate. When I first did the Atkins diet, it wasn't that big (I wish it had been -- I would have been able to stay on it much longer if they'd had all the low-carb options then that they have now), and the carbs were listed on everything then because it is the law.

LOL! It is kinda funny. Unfortunately it's got me thinking of Godiva ice cream now. It's calling me from the kitchen. Chocolate!!!
