I know work in a call center that has multiple accounts and play "Guess that accent" before pulling up account information. I'm typically spot-on except in case of transplants.
Yes, but if you kill your accent, nobody gets to play the "where's she from?" game. (My dad had to kill his accent; as a Southerner up north, nobody was taking him seriously as a scientist.)
