Rollin' to Raleigh

Before the personal stuff, a fan announcement of The Librarian #3: The Curse of the Judas Chalice on TNT December 7. They've changed the sidekick again, which is a pity because the first one was best (which can also be said about the movies, but if #3 is like the third Indy - and it should, because they're knockoffs - then it'll be excellent.)
Road trip! Headed out after work down to North Carolina to see
stratford_babe in the company of
maureen_the_mad and
terri_104. Once again, the Garmin was slightly better at finding half-remembered restaurants than driving directions - oh, it *got* us there with a minimum of fuss, but Garmins don't have a "all highway" option and thus its idea of fastest time involved lots of stoplights.
There had been talk of going downtown to see the Dead Sea Scrolls, but NC is a battleground state 72 hours before the election, so downtown anywhere was really Not An Option, because you can't move for rallies. So we went to the State Farmer's Market instead, and that was pretty darn cool. Huge and varied selection of produce and plants - M is coming home with a blueberry bush and I'm coming home with one of those "grow a whole salad in a big pot" planters and a thornless blackberry bush that will reputably grow in the shade. If it does, I'm going to build myself a blackberry friggin' forest, because I have lots of shade. We also bought lots of apples - they had tasters of the various varieties, and looked at veggies we had no idea how to cook (Crowder Peas, anyone?)
After, we took advantage of the private cinema at
stratford_babe's place to watch Iron Man and Stardust. M wants a private cinema now. (Me - I get headaches in movie theaters. I think it's the amped sound and the lack of ambient light. So it was nifty, but needing to take aspirin after wasn't nifty.)
Today we get to see where S_B works and haul our foliage back. If the plants live, next fall M & I will come down alone and turn my SUV into a rolling arboretum.
