Assd. thinky thoughts:

Knitting
Lime & Violet are spamming my flist with their advent calendar, but it's pointing me to some fun things, including ones I'm missing because I'm not reading all my comms. For the few of you who missed this: crocheted Ninth Doctor and crocheted Rose (although frankly, that could just as easily be Martha or Donna or Sarah Jane with appropriate changes in yarn color for hair, skin, and blouse.)

I need to learn to crochet. I want me a little kickline of companions.

This snowflake looks completely fiendish, but very cool. Man, a "grandmother's flower garden" afghan of *those* would be fabulous, wouldn't it?

The yarn I had in mind from the previous post is Tahki Cotton Classics. If you are interested in playing along, ping me at this screenname on aol and tell me what you'd like in exchange and I'll give you my address. An even swap is cool. How do you feel about fuschia?

ChicagoTARDIS

I will at some point update my con report to mention that Lis Sladen was very forthright about her love of shoes and Colin Baker admitted in his Saturday talk that during one scene he bit Nicola Bryant's butt. "Not hard, just a friendly little one."

And I'm going to wait until they've had a chance to recover a proper time to bring this up through official channels to [livejournal.com profile] taraljc & [livejournal.com profile] renn but before then, is it just me, or would Bernard Cribbins and Penelope Wilton be amazing guests? I'd love to see them - Penelope because I fangirl the hell out of Harriet Jones, but Bernard is not only the wonderful Wilf - I've just been relistening to the Big Finish audio he was in (The Horror of Glam Rock) and in his interview at the end of that CD, he talked about having auditioned to be the Fourth Doctor.

Show of hands, please, to know if there's enough interest to make an official "this would be peachy keen" suggestion.

Ha! I've already suggested Penelope several times. The con chair doesn't think she'd bring in many people, though.

If she's not too expensive, she could always be the B-level guest.

Bernard I think would bring in people - but the purpose of the post is to see if that's just me. I hope not just me, because Wilf seems to be incredibly popular.

She'd bring me in, and I've never been to a con in my life!

Now *those* are comments we can take to the concom!

I must recommend ChicagoTARDIS on principle; it has enough going on to keep you moving, but it's not overwhelmingly huge. And if they stay in the same hotel next year, there's that nifty mall across the street, and some very nice restaurants. (I'm seriously considering just going back to the location when money's not so tight to enjoy the surrounding area!)

Harriet Jones rocks! I'd love to see her.

OT, but did you get my LJ to behave itself for you after you had trouble with it the other day?

Yes. Now I have to remember which post I was trying to reply to and what I wanted to say! :>

I can't help you on what you wanted to say! :D

But I'm guessing the post was the Booking Through Thursday inspired one...

That snowflake is definitely awesome! I'm giving handmade soap to my relatives for Christmas and I am plotting to maybe make a few of these to add to their Christmas packages, since it looks wickedly awesome but I think the pattern is pretty easy. Thanks for sharing!

Not to mention Bernard's turn as Ian Chesterton Tom Campbell in the second dalek movie.

He mentioned that too - it didn't stick because I keep forgetting about the movies! (Must see at some point.)

Also, the bum-biting tale had me laughing so hard I couldn't breathe.

It's that he then went and urged another actor to do it that made me snarf.

Me too. And the capper was the fact that Nicola got revenge on the other guy, but Colin got off scot-free.

I heartily recommend you go over to Tangled Skein and sign up with Edna. She taught me how to get past some hurdles in my crocheting, and she's a lot of fun.

Hey, I have an idea - want to take a crochet class *together* with Edna in Jan/Feb time frame?
