that the court did it just means watch out for Iowa's equiv of Prop 8, a constitutional ballot, to come up in the next election just as it has in most of the states with bans (including VA). court cases like that are on constitutional grounds, which can be amended. State constitutions are FAR too easy to amend.

That would happen no matter who proposed it first. It still means that civil rights are marching incrementally forward. I'm also hoping that the post Prop 8 stink is going to mean a much better campaign in favor of gay marriage when it does come to a vote.
