For the Who fans: My review for BF #14 The Holy Terror is up on Unreality SF

For the theater fans, I was pointed at this article today: the Stratford Festival (Ont) is canceling shows or putting them on "hold" due to the economy. Not, I am very relieved to see, at the height of the season, but the numbers simply aren't there for later in the run. (I am now very relieved that I decided to go in August and not September!)

For the German speakers: is "backpfeifengesicht" a word? It's shown up in the comments of a blog as meaning "face in need of a fist." Because if that's a real word and its meaning, that is *so freakin' cool* and I'm totally stealing it.

Apart from the fact that a 'Backpfeife' would be more likely be taken to mean a slap than a punch, it's a perfectly acceptable word. 'Backpfeife' is fairly regionally specific (rural Southern Germany, mostly), but at a guess I'd say most Geman natives would catch your drift.

A slap works. So it's sort of the German for "you need one upside the head" then? Because technically that means a backhanded slap.
