I have to say, I'm glad M got me to go along with her to see Night at the Museum II, Battle at the Smithsonian. It's totally silly, occasionally stupid, and lots and lots of fun. I loved the line, "We're Americans! We don't plan, we DO!" ("Not wrong," M muttered.) The moment when the Tuskegee captain saluted Amelia Erhart, "Because they didn't think we could fly either. Thanks for clearing the runway" was my favorite in the movie, possibly because it was the only serious one. I think M's favorite part was the Apollo 13 shoutout.
There are a lot of laughs and a little hometown squee, but those three bits are worth the price of admission right there. Oh, and stay for the credits. They tie up a major loose end in a delightful way in the credits.
I suppose I'm going to end up seeing Trek in the theater too. I'm about the only geek who hasn't yet!
And now... laundry, catching up, and getting back to real life.
