Fred Throws in His $.02

For those who've lived in blissful ignorance, Andy Schlafly - yeah, Phyllis of "The ERA takes away our female privileges" son - has decided that Liberal bias has become the single biggest distortion in modern Bible translations. (This was announced on Conservapedia, because facts and reality also, as Stephen Colbert has pointed out, have a well-known liberal bias.) The new Bible will "Exclude Later-Inserted Liberal Passages," provide a "Framework against Liberal Bias," and (my personal favorite), "Express Free Market Parables."
I'm guessing that bit about not being able to worship mammon and God is a late-inserted liberal passage.
There's been a lot of discussion on this over at
jonquil's on LJ and Dreamweaver (I recommend a look, they're highly entertaining posts) and I first heard about it from Pharyngula, but I've been waiting impatiently for Fred the Slactivist, the liberal evangelical minister who's been eviscerating Left Behind, to discover this and throw in his $.02. The post went up today:
The satirist and the extremist are thus in a kind of footrace. And, as the Conservative Bible Project demonstrates, the extremists these days are winning. They're getting there first -- beating any would-be satirist to the finish line and the punch line.

Date: 2009-10-08 11:25 pm (UTC)Government is a liberal word because it is a tenant of conservatism that the gov't is never ever effective and should be reduced as small as possible.
