So far, I'm mostly using the rice cooker to do the same sorts of things I can do in the crock pot... only faster. (This was not a bad thing on the morning when I woke up and realized I had nothing to take to work for lunch that day.) Successful recipes have included:
- barley pudding
- risotto
- cottage cheese frittata
- root vegetables (1 red potato, 1 sweet potato, 1 parsnip, 1 onion) simmered in honey and dill
- pear poached in wine and topped with chocolate
and, oh, yeah -
- plain rice
I'm starting to kick around the concept of getting a small dehydrator becauseI'm a kitchen appliance slut the price of dried fruit is obscene, plus the stuff from the grocery has added sugar *and* HFCS.
