There's one thing that appears to be a season-wide thing that I really like: they're being matter-of-fact about brains wired differently. Dyslexia isn't bad or stupid (nor does it make you a magical plot solver). It's possible to have good days even if you have deep depression.
Other than that, I've always been "meh" about the Doctor Meets Famous People And Drops Lots of In-Jokes episodes and that hasn't changed.
And because I still have to cut this for the next three hours: there's a lot of birdsong in my neighborhood and these days it's Really. Freaking. Me. Out.

Date: 2010-06-05 11:51 pm (UTC)seriously, I've not been as big a fan of the celebrity episodes either - I like the classic name dropping (though 8 did it a bit much and big finish built on it to an extreme, at least for Charlie's first years 'til the new universe took over his plot lines), but aside from 1 (back when they were still trying to build accurate history lessons into some stories), they rarely actually had the famous person on screen.
that being said, and pastiche though it was, i quite liked unicorn & wasp anyways. :) (though much of that is, as usual for that season, due to donna)
