I have laid linoleum. As I said on Facebook, there are things I've enjoyed laying more. One thing amused me... all the advice said "rent a 100-pound roller to get it really flat."

Suffice it to say, I'm well over 100 pounds. Which is why I've just been doing an extremely budget Cirque du Soleil routine on a bit of large dowel rod.

Tomorrow, I buy the molding and shelving and at least install the molding & thresholds. (I'll buy it pre-primed and just leave it that way; white's fine.) That leaves only shelf-hanging, "after" picture taking (y'all didn't think you'd get away without pictures, did you?) and re-stocking.

Goal deadline is next Sunday. With M's help - she's downstairs cutting the thresholds right now, and she pulled up most of the old lino - I'm going to make it with several days to spare.

Next up, decluttering the library, which has been divorced from actually redecorating the library and going through all the books. I wanted to give myself a break from 1) the expense and 2) the physical labor.

Now, if I could just get over the free-floating guilt from not attending the family reunion this year... (It's going on right now. And I'm the only member of my immediate family not there.)

Did anyone film it for YouTube?

Oh-- never mind. If it worked, it's not YouTube material.

Glad all this is going well. Makes me tired just reading about it, but good for you!

Nobody wants that on youtube - I didn't want to get anything on my clothes, so I was doing it all in my underwear!

I love DIY advice that suggests you just casually run off and rent some incredibly obscure one-function piece of machinery known to only five people on earth. ;)

"Now build up a good head of steam in your rented coal-fired left-handed trans-atmospheric monkey laminator..."

Ha! Yes, this! "Be sure to use the right sort of laminate for your monkey."

Just putting body weight on a 3' x 3" dowel rod seems to have worked admirably; it's smooth as glass and solid as rock in there this morning. The dowel is also a bit of a one-use item, true, but it only cost a couple bucks, I don't have to give it back, and for some reason Gytha is fascinated by it.
