Have you seen this travesty? I cannot imagine a worse-sounding idea.

Oh dear bob no. No. No. No. No. NO!

I actually love Johnny Depp in certain roles (like Finding Neverland), but for the love of FSM, they better not! Yeah, sure, let's just retcon a whole doctor, shall we? Because somehow I doubt they're going to ditch Matt for Johnny right now!

I somehow doubt that Auntie Beeb would let the cash cow, which is funded with British tax dollars, emigrate under any circumstances.

I sincerely doubt that the guy who is no longer attached to the show would be allowed to pitch a movie for it.

That's what I would assume, but after landing Torchwood on Starz, I'm not so sure. Still, you have a much better finger on what's going on than I do, so I'm going to rely on you!

But he created Torchwood. They're his characters. He did not create Doctor Who the concept, he does not own the property (which is paid for with tax money, making it even less likely the BBC's going to let go of it) and just to ice the cake, he doesn't own the daleks - he had to negotiate with the Nation estate to license them for Who.

I haven't heard anything other than the article you sent me to, but this just doesn't pass the sniff test.

I approve of your reasoning. :) Also, the article that Tor linked to no longer exists, and comes from what seems to be a fairly sketchy site. I really ought to do research before panicking, but Tor's usually reasonably reliable, so I didn't think to. Fool me once, shame on me...

Tor may be reliable, but they're still a news site - they're going to rush to be first to say anything controversial so that if it's true, they can claim to have broken the news.

When volume drops on [livejournal.com profile] soniclipstick, we drop back to a weekly post. But to stop someone from having to read an entire week's worth of postings to get it out, editors take turns to cull links all week long - currently, I'm doing Sunday-Tuesday.

This post marks where I stopped pulling links from the Sarah Jane Adventures Reading List.

As you can see, it inevitably turns into an open thread post too. :)
