Bugger. I need a "fic idea" tag because there's far too much volume under the Doctor Who tag. Am trying to locate my own old post about medicine in the 1900s vs now because I'm finally going to write the "Joan joins Team TARDIS" story and I know there was a good conversation about that... and not even Google is providing.

Come to think of it, I need a "fic idea" tag on principle, but for now, can anyone with better LJ-searching-fu either point me in the direction of my own post (thank you persiflage_1!) and/or remind me of some medical principle that Martha would know but Joan doesn't that does NOT use modern medicines? (i.e., I remember there was a discussion of how to save someone from shock that would not have been known in the early 1900s.) ETA: I'm still open for suggestions on this, even with the old post found.

While we're at it, this is going to be told from Joan's POV, and she was not as progressive as she liked to think she was. (Yes, this is a story that's going to need a racism warning.) What sort of terms would she use to describe Martha, even if she thought she was being polite? Negress?
