I did the math. If I stretch out the Blue Apron ingredients - and I'll have to, because they're very sloppy about sodium, so I need to sharply reduce some portions - and have the farm share, and buy only skyr and fresh fruit and milk and a once-a.week treat...

Then I can eat for about $15 a day, low sodium, well-rounded food. It's not going to be How To Eat on a Shoestring per se; not when I'm shopping at Wegmans and Penzys. But I like the idea of the challenge, and I'm very tempted to start blogging it here... or even to sign up for Wordpress and start a "hacking Blue Apron" blog.

Please, do it here. I hate the idea of one more place to go looking for my friends.

I can't help but dream that if I start a wordpress blog, it might get a little fame and traction...

Anyway, I can talk about what I've done today, and I'm EXHAUSTED! With Fios being installed, I had to be home and didn't have connection with the TV or Internet much of the day, so I've been cooking.

And cooking.

And cooking.

A bag of lemons has been juiced and the results frozen in little pucks. A cup of beans has been cooked and while I intended to curry them, I ended up doing a sort of mustard/maple thing with them (vinegar, I see, is going to be my friend.) There's lamb stew with most of the greens going, apples being sauced, and sweet onions being carmelized with raisins.

And they called me crazy for having a bazillion crock pots.

So far, the Blue Apron tablespoon of butter -- seriously, they sent me a single tablespoon of butter, and 2 tablespoons of cider vinegar in an adorable bottle -- both of those went into the onions. The rice was marked with its instructions and tossed into the pantry for later. I'm going to actually try one of their recipes tonight (the molasses stewed collard greens) and I still need to cut tarragon and mix it into ground lamb patties for freezing and make a chicken sandwich for tomorrow at work.

I'm on a low-sodium diet and am now seeing how few things I can eat that other people prepared.

As my current office has no cafeteria, it's all the more reason to start seriously cooking myself.

I can give you space on my DreamHost account if you'll spring for the domain reg. If you don't want to spring for a domain reg, you could use one of my domain names (hackingblue.elitistgeek.net, for example). :)

I use my account so little I feel like I should get more use out of it.

If you do it now, it's $11.95. If you wait until the prices go up at the end of the month, it's $13.95. :)

Doooooo it. It'd be nice to have someone else on WordPress that I know, plus two minds are sure to figure out how to do all the fun stuff one mind can't figure out on her own.
