Dumb LJ questions

neadodsWell, I've spent the afternoon customizing instead of typing in Essex info. And now I have a bunch of questions.
1) What is "Free Text"?
2) Is it possible to put "update journal" into one's navigation menu? Manage? Log Out? I keep going back to the main user page do all these things.
3) What are links and how does one add them?

Nea, to my knowledge you can't put those in your nav bar (well, I shouldn't say can't, because it can probably be done, but it'd be programming-intensive), unless you wanted to slot one in as your personal website. You could, however, put them in your links.
