I simply MUST buy this book when I go to London! (The title is a grabber, but it's the subtitle that's the dealmaker. It MUST be mine!)

(Note to self - spelunk through Dork Towers archives to get a "It MUST be mine!" shot for an icon.)
neadods: (yay!)
Dang, it's *amazing* what 15 minutes can do. I took a look at the junk drawer. Listing everything in it (no pictures, sorry) would take longer than it took to organize. Suffice it to say that I pulled everything out, threw several things away (plastic measuring spoons with the painted numbers coming off, a rusty loaf pan), put others where they will be remembered and used (spatulas with the other ones, spreaders in the tool crock), put a couple things in purgatory (the Pampered Chef roller), etc.

Uh, this was supposed to go on Homekeeping... )
neadods: (knitting)
Over the weekend I knitted up the first square of what is to eventually be a felted alpaca afghan. Then I took measurements and made calculations... and came up 7 skeins short. So okay, off to the store, right? Except that it turns out that the store near work doesn't carry the right yarn. Nothing even equivalent.

So now that's on hold until I do get the yarn. At some point I'll swing by the spinning and knitting shop in Catonsville; if there's no luck there I'll have to wait until the next Sheep & Wool festival, where I got this stuff.

So next up is another project - only I can't figure out what to do. There are two skeins of handpainted yarn to play with, and I can't figure out what I want to do with it - do the safe but boring square pattern or try it in a different patterns and run the risk of needing to buy more of very expensive yarn.

And then there's the unexpected surplus of Svale left over from the Doctor Who scarf. There's not enough to do the lap blanket, but it's tempting to do the crazy quilt blanket in something a little brighter than natural white.
