5th page, Washington Post headline this morning: US Demands More Abortion Records.

Basically, the demand for medical records has expanded to six Planned Parenthood affiliates, including the ones in DC, NYC, LA and apparently state-wide for PA, KS & MO. Why? Because Planned Parenthood has filed suit against the original attempts of the Justice Department to look at medical records to see if the 'partial birth' process was really "medically necessary."

Like a lawyer who publicly announced anti-abortion plans even KNOWS from "medically necessary" vs "I can abuse my power on page 5 while they talk about gay marriage and The Passion on page 1."

I used to go to a DC Planned Parenthood. No, I didn't get an abortion of any kind. But that doesn't mean that I ever want Osama Bin Ashcroft to go pawing through my records looking diddly; if he wins the right to go looking for one kind of abortion, it won't be too much longer before he goes looking for other kinds, and then right down the slippery slope to single women looking for contraceptives. (No, I'm not being paranoid. This is the same administration that put a man who refused to give single women contraceptives on a panel advising about women's health issues. There are people vested in this issue already in positions of power in this administration.)

Not to mention that whole troubling issue of facts and this administration. Where are the WMD that we "knew where they are"? Why is the medicaid budget over a third what it was supposed to be? Nobel scientists are writing letters of protest about how this administration twists facts.

Ladies - particularly supporters of Planned Parenthood in DC and NYC, I know a couple of y'all read this - start your protests.

This bunch is scary!

Osama Bin Ashcroft! I love it! Unfortunately, truer words were never spoken. Ashcrafty's home state knew what they were doing when they elected a dead guy over him. We should enjoy being able to write such things in a public forum while we can.

I've been anti-Bush-Bunch since the beginning. I had this wild feeling while they were still recounting the Florida votes that if Bush became president a lot of people were going to die. That it was literally a life or death choice. And that all those who cheered him would eventually rue the day he ever came to office.

This crew is looking to turn the country into a dictatorship run by the very rich thought & religious police over the progressively poorer. They seem to be moving toward a return to the days of Charles Dickens crossed with Big Brother. I'm afraid if they get into office again we're all going to be in very big trouble.

While Armwacked is looking to start the next Inquisition, they've also been having the FBI check out anyone who dares to rally against the war. And Greenspan is talking about using social security to fund the tax breaks for the very rich. My husband and I aren't big financiers. We were counting on social security. And up until Bush got in, it looked like we could. Then the surplus drained away into Halliburton and friends.

I don't know about you, but we never got a real tax refund. We literally cashed it over to the State Republicans for the new higher taxes here. And of course, the taxes haven't gone down. They've gone up. Net result? We've got much higher taxes than I ever thought we would have at this point. And this economic boom that the Republicans keep talking about simply isn't happening. Maybe it is for the very rich, but it's not happening for us ordinary folks. I have a lot of friends who are struggling. Most are worried about losing their jobs. Some have already lost them. And others are getting by on next to nothing.

I didn't join your interesting conversation on Mel's movie. But the bottom line of my thoughts is that the Christian gospels hold a warning in them far beyond the historical. That is, when religion gains too much power, the so-called leaders stop thinking religion and start moving into oppression. I have no doubt that if Jesus returned today, Armnut and his friends would want to crucify him all over again. And the irony would be that they would do it in His name. There are a whole bunch of folks out there who would trade their freedom to people like Armquack rather than allow a few homosexuals to get married.

When we were still embroiled in the the last election I found it rather frightening that Putin endorsed Bush. I felt that way again when Bush said he'd "looked into Putin's soul" and somehow found a friend. This is not good stuff. I am *very* afraid that if we don't get rid of this administration and all of its demigods this time out, that we never will. For me, Bush joked one too many times about how things would be easier for him if he could be a dictator. I'm going to be very afraid if he gets in again. The fact that his pal in charge of the electronic voting machinery (without any paper trail) promised him the election doesn't make me feel any better about it.
