misscam: Pride and Prejudice as a series of Facebook updates
Lydia Bennet and Kitty Bennet joined the group 1,000,000 Strong Against the Officers Leaving Meryton! {join!}
Lydia Bennet is going to Brighton with Colonel & Mrs. Forster!!!!1!
This is a parody in response to something I linked before, but is always worth another go-around: Hamlet done as a series of Facebook updates
Hamlet wonders if he should continue to exist. Or not.
Hamlet thinks Ophelia might be happier in a convent.
Ophelia removed "moody princes" from her interests.
While I'm discussing - or at least, picking on - literature, what's the deal with this year's seasonal bodicerippers? Every single one I've looked at is a reprint. Every. Single. One. The novels are reprints. The anthology was shuffled together from three previous ones... which is actually better than last year's anthology, which was a reissue of one a mere 4 years old. At least this anthology had stories dating back to '91. (Although, annoyingly, this means I did have it already somewhere anyway.)
The publishers must be sure they'll still sell, or they won't be issuing reprints. But is no one willing to write or pay for a new one?
I have absolutely no idea what icon will appear with this post. I appear to be the latest victim of the "choose an icon, have displayed one that you don't even have" fairy. Fellow victims, does this require a delete and reload, or will it sort itself out eventually?
ETA: Dad's recovering so well he goes home a day early.

I think it may well be "pay for". Word's gone around the publishing community and even the mainstream press that Houghton Mifflin Harcourt are putting a freeze on new acquisitions pro tem until the economic situation improves, I believe. Reprints, if carefully budgeted for, are far less risky than acquiring a new and untried author/title.
