Y'all with [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti auctions already running - what's more popular, goods (winner will be sent a physical whatever) or services (winner gets fic, icon, editing, etc.)?

And in the same vein, what do you think would bring more $$ - a one-off auction of a thing which would only have one winner, or "anyone who donates $5 gets a private message with a recipe/knitting pattern"?

while some items get more money....
a service is easier, doesnt cost shipping, and you can sell more of them (usually)

obviously if you sell. say... icons.. you can make a LOT of icons for donations of 1-5 bucks...... but how many items do you have and who wants them? and then postage..

I've got one of Vincent's costume shirts from BatB with certificate of authenticity. That should bring in some bucks, and then I've got some yarn.

I may make a few recipes available on a minor donation basis anyway. Can't hurt.

I'm only in the Lightning Round (Buy It Now fic), so I can only speak to that. It took about 15 minutes for someone to jump on $10 for 300 words, so if you have a wide network on which to "advertise", I'd think you could do quite well selling multiple ficlets.

I've seen both go for at least $100. Goods like I have are just as popular as art/writing you name it. Knitting, which is in the category my stuff is in, is taking off like wildfire in some auctions. It seriously depends on the interest you spark with your entry.

Good to know! I'm going to go through my yarns tomorrow.
